Ecology and Society
Despite the fact that our house represents a goneby era of sorts, we firmly believe that it is important to be part of the current society we live in and try to address some of the challenges it faces. Tourism tends to have a negative impact on the environment but you can rest assured that your stay at Napier House is as green as is possible. With this in mind, we have adopted some practices that help reduce our negative impact on our planet. These include :

- Biodegradable laundry detergent without any perfume, coloring or synthetic products
- clothes line for drying the linen
- use of grey water to irrigate the garden
- local produce from organic farmers for breakfast
- no plastic single use items
- heating of the house and glasshouse with biomass
- gardens cultivated 100% organically

Also, the idea of Napier House is for us, and we hope also for your clients during their stay, a refuge from the frenetic, brutal, and ugly, modern world that we live in. For this reason, we have made the concious decision not to have any televisions. We do have internet but we encourage everyone to use the piano, harmonium or the library.

We are always very happy to share our passion, interest and love for the beautiful, peaceful, organic living. If you would like to come and spend time here and would prefer to exchange your effort and gift of time instead of a monetary contribution, we would like to hear from you! We will be happy to house and feed you in exchange for some help in the gardens, the house or even our farm in a neighbouring village.
